Findlay Prep has come out of a rough month of December with a flawless January thus far. The Wolverines dropped three close games in December, their only losses of the season.
The squad completely turned things around, winning all five of its games in the first three weeks of January. Findlay’s latest triumph comes from a 73-43 victory over Wesleyan Christian Academy on January 20.
Starting off in a well battled first quarter, Wesleyan won the quarter 22-21. After that, Findlay started to slowly break away, taking a 37-33 lead by halftime.
The second half was all Findlay. The Wolverines held Wesleyan to ten second half points, five in each quarter, while putting up 15 and 21 points in the third and fourth quarters respectively.
Senior small forward Kelly Oubre led Findlay with 23 points, five rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. Senior Rashad Vaughn added on another 12 points for the Wolverines.
This big 30-point victory is exactly what Findlay Prep needs to go into Saturday’s game at Bishop Gorman. In 8th place in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings and 1st in Nevada, the Wolverines expect an intense game against Gorman, who sit in 31st in the national level and 2nd in Nevada.
