Wasting no time in getting the New Year start, Findlay Prep has already recorded two big wins in 2015. On January 2, the Pilots, ranked 5th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings, took down 9th ranked Our Savior New American. The following day, Findlay faced Pinnacle. Both games were part of the Hoophall West Classic and both games went Findlay’s way.
In both games, Allonzo Trier was the player to watch. Against OSNA, the Arizona commit dropped 33 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the floor and 12-of-16 from the free-throw line, leading the Pilots to an 82-69 victory over the top ranked team from New York. Junior Derryck Thornton added on 20 points and six assists to the tally.
The next day, Findlay dominated Pinnacle 72-48. Allonzo Trier shined yet again, scoring 27 points backed by 11-of-16 shooting. Thornton supported Trier with 16 points and dishing out another five assists.
Now 15-0, Findlay Prep’s showing at the Hoophall Classic proves that they are truly a top-tier team. With plenty of basketball left to play this season, the Pilots look to continue their excellent play and make a run to climb up the rankings.
